The best beaches

Whitehaven Beach

Without a doubt our favourite beach on the East Coast and always at the top of any Australia bucketlist! You’ll find this epic spot in the Whitsunday Islands which you can visit via a boat trip from Airlie Beach in Queensland. Check out our options to visit this amazing beach here.

Byron Bay Main Beach & the Pass

The home of RatPack Travel and one of the most chilled beaches there is, here you’ll find one of the best surf spots in Australia – the Pass! Not only is the beach epic for surfing but also home to some incredible wildlife including dolphins, turtles and sharks. Head on a kayaking trip to explore the coastline or learn to surf. Check out how to spend 5 days in Byron Bay here.

12 Apostles, Great Ocean Road

The ultimate roadie in Australia is the Great Ocean Road, this is the best roadtrip to travel by campervan in Australia. Make sure you hit up the incredible 12 Apostles and see these unreal rock formations… Looking for a discounted campervan for your trip? Bondi Beach, Sydney

It’s iconic thats for sure! Probably one of the most well known beaches in the world, this spot is a little paradise outside of the big city lights of Sydney. We love this spot because its always bustling, has great waves and the vibe is abit of us! The health food scene here is awesome and you’ll find plenty of cafes or workouts to join in on the beach. You can visit Bondi from Sydney via the bus or train. Click here to check out our Backpackers guide to Sydney.

75 Mile Beach, Fraser Island

Fraser Island is one of our favourite spots for a unique Aussie adventure. Just off the coast of Queensland and an awesome trip near Brisbane, you can visit this paradise island on a 4wd tagalong tour where you will actually drive on the 75 mile beach and check out spots like the SS Maheno shipwreck. Heads up, you won’t be able to swim in the ocean here as its shark infested BUT there are plenty of beaut fresh water lakes for you to enjoy. Check out the epic options to explore Fraser island here.

Cape Tribulation, Tropical North Queensland

Just north of Cairns you’ll find the incredible Tropical North Queensland. If you are looking for a day trip from Cairns this is the place for you! Cape Tribulation is where rainforest meets reef, more specifically where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. We’ve got some awesome trips to visit Cape Tribulation, you can check them out here.

Cape Hillsborough

Does it get more Aussie than this?? A Kangaroo on the beach! Yep this is actually a very realistic experience to have whilst you are travelling Australia. Head to the beach for sunrise to check out these guys! We recommend having your own wheels to get here and even better, a campervan so you can wake up and head straight there! Hit us up for your discounted campervan rental.
