Ready to visit the world’s largest sand island and explore it in the comfort of a coach that was made for sand driving? Fraser Island is one of our favourite adventure experiences and you’ll love everything that this incredible island has to offer! There’s no such thing as roads on Fraser and you’ll be swapping the rainy dual carriageways of home for the 75 mile beach highway and will be cruising along the beach and tracks through the forest, it’s an experience like no other and this will certainly get your adrenaline going. The island is super remote and very few people actually live here, there’s incredible wildlife to see, look out for the island’s resident dingos, snakes, spiders, goanas and whales (during the migration season).
This guided tour with Cool Dingo will show you the islands best locations and you’ll be shown around by a legendary experienced guide! Over the 3 days and 2 nights, you’ll see all of the islands highlights including the crystal clear Lake McKenzie, tea tree Lake Wabby, float down the natural lazy river Eli Creek, visit indian head to take in the views or chill in the bubbling champagne pools and see the historic maheno shipwreck. You’ll also get the chance to go stand up paddleboarding at Lake Birrabeen on as well as the optional air fraser scenic flight.
This tour is great if you want to experience the island but you want to have the ultimate chill experience and stay in comfy wilderness lodges with all of your linen provided and bathroom facilities. During the 3 days exploring the island you’ll have an expert guide who will provide you with entertaining and informative commentary, this coach can take the harsh terrain of Fraser Island and you’ll get great views from the panoramic windows.
All of your food is included on this tour and we’ve heard EPIC things, we’re talking bacon and eggs for breakfast, a picnic lunch and a full buffet dinner with a different theme each night! It doesn’t stop there in the evenings and you’ll be able to enjoy the onsite licensed bar and hang out with other travellers, here you’ll find a dance floor, pool tables and music!
We love this tour because you can let someone else do the work and relax in the comfort of the air conditioned coaches and experience life in one of the epic wilderness lodges!
Get picked up from your Hervey Bay accommodation and take a ferry across to the World Heritage sand island that is Fraser Island. Today you will get to have a swim in famous Lake McKenzie, visit the historical heart of the island – Central Station and the rainforest boardwalk, see ancient King Ferns at Wanggoolba Creek, visit Pile Valley’s famous Satinay trees and trek to Basin Lake which is perched high in the dunes.
Today we discover the ocean highway of 75-Mile Beach and it’s famous icon of the SS Maheno Shipwreck, swim in crystal-clear Eli Creek with ocean views, visit The Pinnacles Coloured Sands where you learn about local mythology, climb Indian Head for Fraser Island’s most spectactular views, experience the natural rock pool jacuzzis at Champagne Pools plus time for an optional joy flight with Air Fraser taking off right from the beach.
We enjoy a buffet breakfast before trekking through the sand to the oasis of Lake Wabby. The shifting sands of the Hammerstone Sand Blow are on the agenda before a buffet lunch at Eurong Beach Resort. We booked our East coast trip with Sam and we can’t thank him enough! We had minimal time in Australia (only 3 weeks!) and he managed to book us in
for the Great Barrier Reef, a sky dive over Mission Beach, Whitsundays New Horizon tour and the Nomad’s Fraser Island experience. Each of these
trips were amazing and suited what we wanted perfectly.
Sam replied to all of our questions so quickly through Facebook. He is based at Byron Beach Resort and after meeting Sam, we can’t recommend him enough!
If you’re looking to travel Australia or New Zealand head to the RatPack Travel team!
A friend told me about Rat Pack Travel, I did my East Coast adventure through them, they took care of everything such as tours and my bus pass, I got good
discounts and advice. I actually went into the office and met Sam in Byron Bay, he is a great lad and down to earth guy, they can also give you tips
on which hostels to stay in which was hugely helpful. Would recommend Rat Pack to everyone!!
Rented a camper van through Sam and we had the BEST time cruisin the Great Ocean Road! He was super helpful and responsive, answered alllllll my dumb
questions, happily made a few changes and everything worked or smoothly. Also got to meet him when I was down in Byron recently and he’s just a
fun and really nice guy. Would definitely book through RatPack again, WOOO!
Ratpack Travel was brilliant in helping to cut costs for our 5 week East Coast Roadtrip!!! I heard about Ratpack through WheresMollie blog when searching
about but was initially unsure of prices and nervous about booking a campervan online …HOWEVER when I spoke to Sam (who contacted me very promptly)
I was so so so relieved to finally get some real, honest, and personable advice. Our trip couldn’t have gone smoother and we had some amazing recommendations
for places we would never have thought to visit. Sam went above and beyond, and throughout our trip, I was more than happy to recommend him! Best
